Everyday, the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance works with
communities and homeowners, architects and planners, volunteers and
enthusiasts, activists and policymakers to save our heritage and
make a difference in our quality of life. Our knowledgeable
staff and network partners can provide resources to help
homeowners and citizens in caring for an older home or
creating a heritage commission. We provide our preservation
services to help assess a barn's foundation or to plan for the
future of a community landmark.
Our Irreplaceable Assets Campaign and the resulting
endowment funds will provide a reliable income source to supplement
annual funding of our core programs. This funding will help
the Preservation Alliance respond more quickly to our state's
immediate needs and build the capacity of the Alliance for future
years. Three new endowed funds will address the primary
preservation needs of Granite Staters.
This new endowment
fund will further our preservation services such as the hands-on
coaching and resources provided by the shared field service program
(in partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation)
and our small grants program. This financial assistance is the
backbone of our service program, providing community groups and
historic property owners with matching dollars to hire preservation
consultants with the right expertise and planning strategies to get
a project started. From Acworth's Town Hall to the North
Country treasure, the Poore Family Farm, to the recent save of the
Epsom Meetinghouse, the Preservation Alliance has been an important
partner working to help save community landmarks.
This new fund will ensure that advocates of preservation have a
strong voice and that proactive preservation policies are in place
to support individual and community efforts to protect New
Hampshire's heritage. The Preservation Alliance will continue
to advance initiatives like the Land and Community Heritage
Investment Program (LCHIP) and barn tax incentives which have
benefited more than 140 communities to date. The Preservation
Policy Fund promises a continued focus on up-to-date data and
models for good decision-making at the local, state and national
levels.
The New Hampshire Preservation Alliance has an outstanding
record of growth, with consistently balanced budgets and no
long-term debt. Our next step is to provide more Alliance
expertise to threatened building types such as historic
meetinghouses and older schools. The New Ventures Fund will
enable us to create new services such as training materials, a
better website, and resource toolkits. It will also be
available to support investments in the organizational development
of the Preservation Alliance.
Together with strong annual support, these three endowed funds
will go a long way toward helping meet New Hampshire's growing
preservation needs.
Individuals, families, and businesses can make donations to the
Irreplaceable Assets campaign with a pledge over three years.
Gifts may be directed to any of the three permanent funds or made
as an unrestricted contribution to be distributed among all the
funds. Donations of cash, securities, charitable remainder
trusts, life insurance, real property on a life-tenancy basis, or
other deferred gift option are accepted.
Every gift, in any amount, will make a permanent impact in the
work of the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance. Our donors
can be assured that their generosity to the Alliance will help
protect the irreplaceable assets of New Hampshire for future
generations.
