Awards to be Announced May 13

The New Hampshire Preservation Alliance will recognize outstanding achievement in preservation at its annual announcement ceremony on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 4:30 p.m. at N.H. Historical Society's Tuck Library in Concord.

The awards recognize individuals, organizations, or corporations for work or projects in the categories of restoration and stewardship, rehabilitation and adaptive use, compatible new construction, public policy, and educational and planning initiatives. 

Last year's award recipients included the restoration of the University of New Hampshire's Thompson Hall, the restoration of Portsmouth's North Church, renovations to Manchester's Carpenter Memorial Library, Manchester Historic Association's restoration of its Research Center, the Town of Canaan Old Meeting House Restoration Committee, the Friends of Epsom's Historic Meetinghouse, the Hollis Heritage Commission, the Webster Farm Preservation Association, the Penacook Historical Society, and preservationist Florence Brown. The Elizabeth Durfee Hengen Award was presented to the Goffstown Historic District Commission, while Richard Candee was honored for exceptional leadership and achievement in preservation education, advocacy, and planning.

Award program sponsors include Sheehan, Phinney, Bass + Green, Bruss Construction, Inc., CMK Architects, The Common Man, Hutter Construction Corporation, Jewett Construction, Inc., Nathan Wechsler & Co., PA, Riverstone Resources LLC, Selectwood, Samyn-D'Elia Architects, PA, Sheerr McCrystal Palson Architecture, and TMS Architects.

The event is free. Space is limited.

Directions to Tuck Library: 30 Park Street, Concord, NH - (603)228-6688 Take Interstate 93 to Exit 14. Northbound - turn left at the light at the end of the exit ramp; Southbound - turn right at the light at the end of the exit ramp. Move into the left lane in order to take a left onto North Main Street. Take the next right onto Park Street (a one-way street that goes up the right side of the State House). At the stop sign, continue straight; the Tuck Library is the granite building on the right.

Parking: Bring quarters! There is metered street parking near the event location (only have to pay until 5pm) and a metered municipal garage to the south on State Street (entrance is across from Centerpoint Church).
