Workshop Participant Restores 15 Windows!
Monique Dumont lived in an 1827 colonial in Jaffrey with drafty old single-pane wood windows. Window replacement was not an option for her as she loved her antique home and wanted to retain as much of its historic fabric as possible. Monique turned to the Preservation Alliance’s Saving the Sash window workshop in April for help. Jade Mortimer and Dave Bowers, both members of the New England Window Restoration Alliance, lead the workshop guiding participants through all aspects of window restoration. Participants worked on their own sash and left with the know-how to complete their projects at home. Monique left the workshop saying, “I am hugely inspired!” The very next day, she built a steam box similar to the one used at the workshop, and had ordered her steamer.
Monique’s drive and determination has paid off! She is proud to say she has now fully restored all 15 windows in her antique home! The windows are beautiful and she can already feel the house is much warmer. Hats off to Monique!
