Virtual Barn Assessments Announced!

Barn owners we’re here for you!

Sign up today for virtual assessment help for your old barn.  Ian Blackman is offering consultations on a first-come, first-served basis at no cost, but donations are greatly appreciated and help us help others.  Blackman is a preservation contractor, popular educator and one of our expert advisors in an expanding network of amazing preservation trades people supporting the Preservation Alliance and preservation work across the state. He’s shown in the field in Sugar Hill in this pre-COVID-19 photo; he can help you virtually in the meantime.

It’s easy!

Send Program Director Beverly Thomas an email at bt@nhpreservation.org with “virtual barn assessment” in the subject line along with your mailing address, a short description of your barn including age and condition, and advice you are seeking. Also attach up to 10 pictures (may be necessary to divide into multiple emails due to file size) illustrating each side of the barn, a few areas of the foundation, some of the interior frame (especially where side posts meet the top of the wall at the plate), and any areas of immediate concern. We'll then help get you scheduled.

Our members and friends are telling us that our assistance feels more important than ever during this challenging time. We’re helping people like you with resources and advice on stewarding their properties, and we're connecting with local leaders and advocates on assistance with community landmark buildings. This assistance leads to the support of small businesses and adds to local economic vitality in New Hampshire communities.
